But it's Gran Torino, an indie-size drama abt a crotchety Korean War vet, that persuaded him to take an onscreen role for the first time since 2004's Million Dollar Baby. He plays widower Walt Kowalski, a bitter, bigoted former autoworker in Detroit who disapproves of his new neighbours, a family of Hmong immigrants. How he learns to appreciate them and their culture, and to help the family's teenage son and daughter when they're threatened by a local gang, is at the generous heart of this terrific movie. Torino, and Clint, will make your day. So far this is the best movie i had watched this year!!!! That means more of the radio-friendly pop-rock that made 2004's Breakaway a multiplatinum smash. In fact, "My Life Would Suck Without You," the infectious first single, which shot to No.1, was produced by Dr Luke and Max Martin, the same tandem that delivered "Since U Been Gone." Taking no chances, Clarkson enlists a roster of hitmakers, including One Republic's Ryan Tedder and Daughtry producer Howard Benson, who scores two slam dunks: "Don't Let Me Stop You" and the Katy Perry co-written "I Do Not Hook Up."On the other side, a well worth wait for Lily Allen second album It's Not Me, It's You. Full of social commentary and witty observations, Lily doesns't hold back. In fact, Bride Wars isn't really a romantic comedy, since the 2 grooms-to-be have abt as much presence as waiters. The comedy is all abt these bazooka-brained-brides and their holy right to treat a wedding as more impt than, you know, marriage. Hudson, her sunny gd cheer baked to a dominatrix flatness, and Hathaway, her long-limbed smiling charm all a-gangle, go at their frilly obsessions like joyless rival executives. The higher profile of the pair was jan's Angelina Jolie vehicle Changeling. But it's Gran Torino, an indie-size drama abt a crotchety Korean War vet, that persuaded him to take an onscreen role for the first time since 2004's Million Dollar Baby. He plays widower Walt Kowalski, a bitter, bigoted former autoworker in Detroit who disapproves of his new neighbours, a family of Hmong immigrants. How he learns to appreciate them and their culture, and to help the family's teenage son and daughter when they're threatened by a local gang, is at the generous heart of this terrific movie. Torino, and Clint, will make your day. So far this is the best movie i had watched this year!!!! That means more of the radio-friendly pop-rock that made 2004's Breakaway a multiplatinum smash. In fact, "My Life Would Suck Without You," the infectious first single, which shot to No.1, was produced by Dr Luke and Max Martin, the same tandem that delivered "Since U Been Gone." Taking no chances, Clarkson enlists a roster of hitmakers, including One Republic's Ryan Tedder and Daughtry producer Howard Benson, who scores two slam dunks: "Don't Let Me Stop You" and the Katy Perry co-written "I Do Not Hook Up."On the other side, a well worth wait for Lily Allen second album It's Not Me, It's You. Full of social commentary and witty observations, Lily doesns't hold back. "Not Fair," slates a lover's bedroom skills(wonder who's she talking abt??) and "Fuck You," with its cutesie passive-aggressive lyrics, is dressed up as a beautiful ballad. In Bride Wars, it's funny, and telling that when they land a meeting with New York's most fabled wedding planner, they're already so steeped in the minutiae of matrimony that it's clear they could do the job just as well themselves. In fact, Bride Wars isn't really a romantic comedy, since the 2 grooms-to-be have abt as much presence as waiters. The comedy is all abt these bazooka-brained-brides and their holy right to treat a wedding as more impt than, you know, marriage. Hudson, her sunny gd cheer baked to a dominatrix flatness, and Hathaway, her long-limbed smiling charm all a-gangle, go at their frilly obsessions like joyless rival executives.
